July 15 – still in remission!

Quick update – Closed-Loop Buddy is still in remission. We are so happy!

He has not had insulin for 2.5 months, and had not worn a Continuous Blood sugar monitor since May. 100% wet food plus occasional tuna-flavored dental treats – he loves those things!

He has been active, alert, and happy, steady in his weight, and is looking great: Shiny coat, clear eyes. Buddy he has been entirely his high-spirited, demanding and charming self. He is still sweet and interested in human company, and is pretty good walking on his leash.

We took him with us on a recent trip, because, well, he is a bully, and the girl kitties are nervous around him. It’s a win-win-win situation: The girls can chill at home, Buddy enjoys the adventure, and we enjoy his company. If there only were a way to teleport him 😉 – he does NOT like GOING on vacation, but clearly enjoys BEING on vacation.

Here is his blood sugar curve for the past couple of days. As before, he displays a mild “Dawn Phenomenon” – “crepuscular Buddy” wakes up at first light, gets restless and starts waking everyone up until he gets food, then settles down. His excitement and occasional yowling show up in his BG curve. Cortisol … <eye roll>
